CS4 Glitch Art (and other annoyances)
Random Ooze, Rants | Posted by ReggieAdd comments
We’ve got the CS4 thing going on, but apparently, my version of Photoshop has some strange canvas glitches.
Check the pics below…
Some other issues too. For example:
- resizing an object: you have to be out of the bounding box of the object for Photoshop showing up the resize handlers
- text tool: when you select the text tool, you can click anywhere on a text, to edit it. With CS4, I have to place my cursor about 0,5 cm above the text, in order to let Photoshop recognise it as text (and letting me edit it)
- command/control clicking on stuff: same bug. I have to be out of the object in order to click it. It seems Photoshop has shifted its detection handlers for about 0,5 cm
- the new View > Screen Mode > Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar is very cool. Unfortunately, this setting can’t be saved into a workspace profile
*sigh*
Anyone experiencing the same problems? @Adobe: give us an update, will ya!

Presuming that PS CS4 uses your graphics card to speed up editing (transforming in this particular case). I would think the problem lies with the openGL rendering of your graphics card. Not yet very well supported by Photoshop.

YES! I’m experiencing these glitches too, but only when I try to transform certain objects. Otherwise, the transform handles just don’t even show up. Did you discover a solution to this issue?!

Regarding my previous comment, I have discovered the issue. It appears to be the openGL graphics acceleration. I disabled it in preferences > performance, and everything seems to be working fine now.
Pity, I missed the smooth zoom and inertial scrolling.

Thanks Andrew! Disabling the openGL drawing fixed my glitches problem too!

Updating your grapics card drivers might solve the issue if you persist on using the openGL acceleration.

@keukentafel: cool, will try an update of my graphics card. Fingers crossed…
